Moving Packing Services

• Use Sturdy Cartons: If providing your own boxes, ensure they have a minimum of 200 lbs of burst strength (noted on each carton).
• Protective Wrapping: This inexpensive material can safeguard your valuables. Use generously!

• Avoid Overloading: Overfilled boxes can damage your belongings.
• Secure Closures: Use packing or heavy masking tape to firmly close carton tops.
• Label Clearly: Mark each carton with contents and room location for easy unpacking.

Clothing:

• Ask about hanging wardrobe cartons to avoid ironing later. If not, fold and pack clothes in boxes or dresser drawers.

Dishes and Glassware:

• Use Lawton Moving & Storage’s dish barrels, specially designed for fragile items. Line the bottom with paper and pack heavier items first.
• Place plates and bowls on their edge with cushioning in between. Smaller, fragile items go on top.
• Wrap glasses and stemware individually, positioning them bottoms-up, and use plenty of cushioning.

Kitchen Items and Food:

• Clean appliances and wrap them with protective material before boxing.
• Canned goods should go in small, sturdy boxes. Tape and wrap containers for items like cereal, flour, and sugar.
• Important: Do not pack perishables, flammables, or aerosols!

Paintings and Mirrors:

• Smaller pieces can be packed with bedding or towels. Large items? Let Lawton Moving & Storage crate them for safe transport.

Books and Records:

• Pack in small boxes, limiting each to 50 lbs for manageable handling.

Special Items:

• Lampshades: Wrap each one in clean paper (avoid newsprint). Pack them individually.
• Refrigerators: Defrost and dry thoroughly. Wrap glass trays and fragile containers.
• TVs and Stereos: Some may require professional servicing before moving.
• Jewelry and Valuables: Keep these items with you. Do not pack them with other belongings.
